Earthworks at Cromwell’s premium new neighbourhood Wooing Tree Estate are set to begin next month, marking another step closer to the development becoming ready for residential living.
Stage one of the development comprises 33 residential sections, ranging in size from 500sq m to 1000sq m and local contractor Benchmark Construction expects to get underway in early August. Civil works are expected to be complete by February 2021.
Owners of Wooing Tree vineyard Steve and Thea Farquharson – who will retain their award-winning business within the new neighbourhood – say they’re excited about seeing construction get underway.
“The vineyard and cellar door remain open and will ultimately be relocated in the next phase of the development. The cellar door will be pivotal to this vibrant new neighbourhood,” Steve says.
Section sales have been strong since going to market in May this year, says Sean Haynes, senior development manager for Veros Property, the company in charge of managing the development.
“We have some excited new section owners, including locals, ex-pats and local building companies. We continue to field strong enquiry locally, from across New Zealand and from overseas which gives us great confidence going forward,” Haynes says.
Harcourts Cromwell have held two open days in the past month and have also established a presence at the site.
Benchmark Construction was an obvious choice to bring in to the project, Haynes adds: “As leaders in delivering high-quality projects such as Queenstown Country Club and Kirimoko Park in Wanaka, they were a natural fit with our vision for Wooing Tree Estate.”
Benchmark Construction managing director John Mackay says: “This will be a quality neighbourhood and Benchmark Construction are pleased to be civil contractor for this development. The developers have worked hard on overall layout the design and the quality of finish, and we’re excited to get underway.”
