Road Named After Blondie

Some future residents of the Wooing Tree subdivision will be living on a street named after one of the vineyard’s famous wines.

As reported on Connect Cromwell website, at January’s Cromwell Community Board meeting Blondie Drive was approved for a road name in the first stage of the Wooing Tree Estate development. The Blondie is Wooing Tree vineryard’s unique and very popular white wine derived from red grapes. The Blondie has been a huge success for the vineyard, winning the NZ Innovation of Winemaking trophy.

The board also unanimously approved the suggestions for two other yet-to-be constructed roads as Vintage Street and Magnum Drive. Having these road names is significant to the overall brand and character of Wooing Tree Estate. Connecting the subdivision and the vineyard and helping to establish the place and the centrality of the winery within the development.

About Wooing Tree’s Blondie

This unique Blanc de Noir was made from 100% Pinot noir grapes, grown on the vineyard. Ripe hand-picked fruit and gentle winemaking have given a wonderfully balanced wine. The elegant champagne colour resulted from minimal skin contact prior to a gentle whole bunch press. The juice is fermented in stainless steel to retain the varietal and fruit characteristics. The wine shows delightful aromas of stone fruit, pear, orange zest and jasmine with white peach, apricot and a touch of honey on the palate. Best served slightly chilled – reportedly Reese Witherspoon’s favourite NZ wine!
